Print #1 & #4 - Pileated Woodpecker: King of Canadian Woodpeckers. A large forest woodpecker distinguished by its red crest, chisel-shaped bill, and rectangular foraging excavations. Often photographed scaling mature trunks or calling from prominent perches. Nictitating Membrane can be observed.
Print #2 - Hairy Woodpecker: A medium-sized woodpecker identified by its clean black-and-white patterning, long straight bill, and preference for mature forest stands. Commonly photographed foraging on trunks and large branches.
Print #3 - Black-backed Woodpecker: A boreal specialist recognized by its solid black back, barred flanks, and strong association with recently burned or beetle-affected forests. Typically documented scaling dead snags and flaking bark in search of wood-boring larvae. A rather uncommon find.
